As part of our LGBT+ History Month 2026 celebrations, which runs throughout February, we are showcasing the badges which have been entered into our badge competition.

These designs focused on the themes of pride, respect, and equality. They were submitted by people across the Isle of Wight: mostly young people from island schools, but also teachers and community artists.

During 2025, StoneCrabs Theatre, and our LGBTQ+ project Out on an Island, ran a number of workshops for local schools. These explored LGBTQ+ awareness, promoting inclusivity and understanding, using the Museum and School resources. Some of these sessions took place during our Pride in Self, Pride in Place exhibition at Quay Arts.

Overall, we received 63 designs. All were creative and vibrant, and we have narrowed down the selection to a shortlist of 20.

It has been really inspiring to see such a strong sense of creativity, solidarity and allyship within our community.

We will be presenting them on our Instagram and Facebook channels throughout February.

The winning three designs will be announced in our newsletter at the end of February. They will be produced to support ongoing LGBTQ+ initiatives.

Follow us on our social media and in our newsletter to find out the winner at the end of this month!
