The bourgeois house of the Drummond family is juxtaposed against the world of the dockyard brothels to reveal truths hidden for nineteen years. Misael Drummond’s buried past and the fate of his daughter, Moema, will only be resolved by the weight of her forbidden desires, and the revenge she seeks. Rodrigues’s work ranges from realism to symbolism and brought about a true revolution in modern theatre, making him a master of the genre and one of the finest Brazilian playwrights of all times.
