StoneCrabs Island Young Creatives are looking for actors on the Isle of Wight for two new short films.
We are looking for actors for 2 short films of approximately 5/10 minutes long each. Actors must be comfortable with a short rehearsal schedule before the actual day of filming in various Isle of Wight locations.

Mike
Playing age: 45-60
A rough around the edges former alcoholic and reformed ex-convict looking to reconnect with his estranged son and make amends.
Billy
Playing age: Mid-Late Twenties
A young labourer bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders and wanting nothing to do with a father who set his life on a downward spiral.

Skin by Ben Murray-Homes
Romance and passion bubbles to the surface as a couple on date break the fourth wall revealing their passionate feelings for each other.

Tom
Male. Preferably late 20’s, mixed race/Black.
Tom works in a restaurant as a chef but spends most of his free time watching movies. Ever since school he’d wanted to make his own films but rarely gets the chance to think about them at his job. He’s a very sweet guy who likes to help people, but he gets quite anxious when doing new things. He’s not 100% confident in his own skin and is somewhat nervous about showing his unclothed body to someone else. Actor must be comfortable with showing bare skin above chest height and below knees.
Beth
Female. Preferably late 20’s, mixed race/White.
Beth works in a travel agency, mostly as an excuse to get great discounts, but she loves helping people get their dream holiday and she loves how excited they get. She loves to explore and travel but doesn’t get to do it as much as she’d like. She likes to run but isn’t sporty and can often be found at home with a bowl of cereal watching Christmas Hallmark movies and Taskmaster. She can be a bit shy but will quickly come out of her comfort zone when she meets someone. She’s got a Meme sense of humour and is often silly. Actor must be comfortable with showing bare skin above chest height and below knees.
Mary
Female. Preferably early to mid 40’s.
Mary and her partner Ed are the sort of open-minded couple who go to all the right marches. She wears colourful dresses and plenty of jewellery. She can get riled up easier than her partner ,but they’re both very kind and patient people, understanding that life is hard for everyone, most of all young people. Her and Ed have had ups and downs but for the last 20 years they’ve been relaxed and happy. They’re both polyamorous and she’s bisexual. With Ed she has two kids, Luke and Jane.
Ed
Male. Preferably mid to late 40’s.
Ed and his partner Mary are the sort of open-minded couple who go to all the right marches. Ed wears smart pastel-coloured shirts and waistcoats. He tends to be quite blunt and often speaks his mind more than he should but never in a mean way unless the person is being a dick. Him and Mary are both very kind and patient people, understanding that life is hard for everyone, most of all young people.
Him and Mary have had ups and downs but for the last 20 years they’ve been relaxed and happy. They’re both Polyamorous. With Mary he has two kids, Luke and Jane.
Davis
Male. Preferably mid to late 30’s, mixed race.
Davis and his partner Rose love to go out most nights, to meet friends or just enjoy a quiet drink. He’s been married to Rose for about ten years, and they have an adopted teen daughter called Abi. He’s a reserved person and tends to keep to himself but loves Love and will make squees of delight if he sees a cute couple. Davis can often be found tending to his plants.
Ross
Gender nonconforming. Preferably mid to late 30’s.
Ross and Davis love to go out most nights, to meet friends or just enjoy a quiet drink. He has been married to Davis for about ten years, and they have an adopted teen daughter called Abi. Ross is not afraid to be himself, wearing whatever clothes he feels most comfortable in. He’s often got the most interesting anecdotes but 90% of them are likely made up. Actor must be comfortable wearing a dress or clothes that don’t conform to male gender norms.
Matt
Male. Preferably late 20’s.
Matt met his partner Amy at uni as friends, realised they had lived near each other for most of their lives but didn’t know it. Back in their hometown they began dating and have been together since. He opened a bar with Amy three years ago and they love running it. They love to meet and talk to so many people and are considered the hub of the town. Matt is a music nerd who plays about 5 or 6 different instruments and no one, not even Amy, is 100% sure which ones they are. He always vouches for the newest and most obscure artists. He’s very laid back and is always ready to lend an ear to the people he serves.
Amy
Female. Preferably mid 20’s/early 30’s, white/mixed race,
Amy met her partner Matt at uni as friends, realised they had lived near each other for most of their lives but didn’t know it. Back in their hometown they began dating and have been together since. She opened this bar with Matt three years ago and they love running it. They love to meet and talk to so many people and are considered the hub of the town. Amy reads a lot and can often be found in a quiet corner with a coffee. She is training for a pilot’s licence but can’t even drive a car. She’s very kind and will give up her seat to anyone and everyone, often leaving her without one. A cup of coffee is permanently in her hand.

When: Rehearsals and trial shoots in mid January 2022 with filming at end January/early February 2022.

Fee: This project is following minimum ITC performer day rates, £100 per day session – or the equivalent, depending on character and time required in rehearsals/set.
